PUPILS from a Hatfield school have had their say in helping to develop plans for a park upgrade.
Students at Countess Anne C of E Primary, in School Lane, were set a homework challenge to create their ideal park.
They each had to build an ideas folder and ask members of the public to complete questionnaires about what they wanted the plans to include.
The youngsters were then asked to make a model showing off their ideas.
Ten-year-old Eleanor Bennett won the competition, which was judged by teachers.
Her winning design, which took almost two weeks to make, incorporated a zip wire, play area, recycling bins and flowers to attract and encourage bees.
“I am really happy I won,” said the Year 5 pupil.

“It was a really fun thing to do, we usually get history projects to do for homework, and I liked this one as it was more fun.”
The competition was part of Hatfield Town Council’s plan to upgrade the play area at St Albans Road East, which is just behind the primary school.
“We thought it was a good idea to ask the children at the school as they live in the vicinity of the park,” said mayor Linda Clark, who saw the designs on Monday.
It is hoped an exhibition of the children’s designs will go on display later this year.
