THE planning application for the dreaded Hatfield incinerator has been handed in to Hertfordshire County Council by Veolia Environmental Services.
The application to build a 380,000 tonne waste burning facility at New Barnfield, off Travellers Lane, was officially submitted today (Wednesday).
In a statement released by the company this afternoon, Veolia said the planned incinerator would create 350 jobs while the facility was built, and employ 52 permanent staff once fully operational.
The statement added: “Over the coming weeks local residents and local businesses will be able to review our plans in detail and provide feedback and comment formally to the planning authority through its consultation process.
“The county council will publish details of the application and how to take part in the consultation in the next few weeks.”
