Hatfield and Potters Bar firefighters visited students at the University of Hertfordshire in Hatfield to promote free fire safety checks.
Crew members attended the university’s Housing Fair that helps prepare first-year students looking to rent their first home, and county councillor Richard Thake, cabinet member for community safety, said the fire safety checks could give students “peace of mind”.
Firefighters also utilised a Ford Focus ‘crash car’ simulator to powerfully highlight the risks of dangerous driving, which first year student Dan, 18, said was a “real eye opener”.
