DAME Alice Owen’s announced the school’s second best ever set of GCSE results.
Just over 94 per cent of this year’s students secured five A* to C grades including English and maths.
The news comes a week after the Dugdale Hill Lane school announced another year of record breaking A-level results.
Headteacher Alan Davison told the Welwyn Hatfield Times’ Potters Bar Edition: “I am delighted to say the school secured an excellent set of GCSE results.
“Our second best ever performance with 94.2 per cent of all Year 11 students securing A* to C grades including English and maths and 96.1 per cent of all students securing five A* to C grades without English and maths.
“The performance at A* was excellent, equalling the second best ever – 64.5 per cent of all entries were graded A* or A.
“These excellent results reflect the hard work of students and staff, and the quality of teaching and support for learning at the school.”
Among the top achieving students was Katerina Savvas, who landed nine A* grades and will hope to be multi-lingual by the time her A-level results are announced, because she is staying on at the school to study English, Italian, Spanish and French.
Among the students receiving straight A* grades were Jacob Davies, Yasmin Murray, Sriya Varadharajan and Deborah Berman.
