Year 11 pupils at Dame Alice Owen’s school in Potters Bar secured another outstanding set of GCSE results this morning.

The school is celebrating after 26.7% of maths pupils, 17.1% of English language and 22% of English literature pupils achieved the top grade 9 in the new style GCSEs.

The school is also proud to share that 63.6% of pupils in maths, 60.5% of pupils in English language and 58.5% of pupils in English literature achieved a grade between 9 and 7.

In maths, 98.1% pupils secured a standard pass with 97.1% of English language pupils and 95.6% of English literature pupils achieving this level.

Looking at the school’s other subjects, 38.8% of these results were graded A* and an outstanding 70.3% of all exams were graded A*-A, 88% of grades were A*-B and 98.8% A*-C.

In total 96.12% pupils achieved five or more GCSEs at standard pass/grade C or above including English and maths which with 97.6% students achieving five or more GCSES at standard pass/grade C or above.

On the Progress 8 measure, which looks at the value a school adds to the students’ education, Dame Alice Owen’s has further improved its score.

Headteacher Hannah Nemko said: “We are thrilled that, after such a stressful time preparing for the new GCSE papers in particular, our students have achieved the results they so richly deserve.

“The students have worked with dedication and focus ably guided and supported by our fantastic staff and parent body.

“We are very proud of their achievements and we hope that they are too.”
