STANBOROUGH School students are celebrating their best ever GCSE results.

Sixty per cent of pupils at the WGC school gained five A*-C grades - a six per cent rise on last year.

Using the Government's new measure of schools, Stanborough also achieved extremely well, with 54 per cent of students gaining five A*-C passes including English and maths, up seven per cent on last year.

Results in maths and ICT were extremely good, reflecting the school's specialism, with 22 per cent of students gained A* or A grades in ICT this year.

Headteacher Peter Brown said: "These are fantastic results.

"We offer our congratulations to all of our students and their teachers for their hard work, and recognise the important support of families at this important time for students."

Notable results are highlighted below:

Ben Woodhams and Eleanor Newton each achieved eight A*s and three As

Ben Thomas also achieved eight A*s with two As

Lawrence McDonald gained five A*s, two As and three Bs

Wendy DeVere achieved four A*s and six As

Vipul Rajyaguru achieved five A*s and five As

Stacie Rimington achieved four A*s and seven A grades

Jafar Miles achieved three A*s and six As

Andrew Lancashire achieved three A* grades and five A s

Krupa Patel three A*s and three A grades

Andrew Piggott achieved three A*s, five As and three Bs

Miranda Toole achieved two A*s and nine A grades

Ben Harrison gained two A* grades, five As and five Bs

Zoe Chan gained two A*s, four As and five Bs

Robert Newsom gained one A*, seven A grades and three Bs

Kieran Cooper gained one A* and six A grades

Thomas Mack gained nine A grades and two Bs
