CHILDREN in Hertfordshire are meeting county council targets for not travelling to school by car.
Nearly 70 per cent of youngsters walk, cycle or take the bus to school, according to latest figures.
Cllr Stuart Pile said: “It’s not just about easing congestion. Getting our children walking and cycling to school is great exercise for them.
“We’re currently working with schools and parents to develop new public transport routes to encourage more children to walk and cycle, so hopefully these figures will continue to increase over the next year.”
