A-level results 2013: Welwyn Garden City students secure places at range of universities

YOUNGSTERS arrived as early as 6am to pick up their A-level results at a Welwyn Garden City school today (Thursday).

Students from Sherrardswood School were praised by their headteacher after an impressive set of results, with more than a third at grades A* or A.

Among the top performers were head boy Ben Lanza, who picked up two A*s and an A to secure a place at Bath University.

Head girl Lily Whitford achieved A,B,C in ICT, English & Geography, and will study geography at the University of Hertfordshire.

Other students celebrating were Tessa Reid, who were awarded two As and a B, and Emma Burman, who got an A and two Bs.

An ecstatic head Lynda Corry said: “These results are a real testament to the commitment and hard work of young people and our teachers.

“Over a third of the grades awarded were at A* and A.

“The University of Hertfordshire, Writtle College, South Bank, Reading, Exeter, Bath and Manchester University are amongst the universities students will attend in the Autumn.

“We are so proud of all our A-level students and wish them well for the exciting times ahead.”
