A BRAINY youngster has scored an A* in his maths GCSE despite being aged just 11.

Stelios Attipa from Brookmans Park thought he had managed to get an A grade back in August when he, like thousands of youngsters across the country, picked up their results.

But when the Chancellor’s School pupil realised he was only one mark away from the gold standard A* his family asked for the paper to be remarked.

This week clever Stelios heard the news.

He told the WHT: “I was really excited, it’s a great achievement.

“My friends said it was amazing too.”

Mother Anna said she always knew Stelios, now 12, enjoyed the subject – and his prospects had been enhanced through a revision course, Supplementary Tuition, based at the Pine Grove school.

She said: “We took him to the Supplementary Tuition school as he had always liked maths.

“I thought he would enjoy the challenge, then we realised how good he was doing.

“He did the exam, just for the experience, we thought he would do fairly well.”

Stelios hasn’t stopped there, he is now thinking about taking the maths A-level too.
