Potters Bar schoolchildren have marked the centenary of the end of World War One by remembering local men who lost their lives.
Children at Pope Paul Primary School in Baker Street have been learning about local men who fought and died in the Great War.
Each class learnt about the three men who were buried in St Mary’s cemetery, Mutton Lane.
They discovered when they died, at what age and their role and rank in the army.
Following their learning, the children created cards for Private Childs, Private Lawman and Air Mechanic Mackenzie to thank them for their sacrifice.
Headteacher Liz Heymoz said: “These cards were taken by our house captains and placed on their graves and a prayer was said.
“After this, the children visited the war memorial on the High Street where it was possible to locate the names of all three men.
“It was a wonderful afternoon as it gave the children a chance to thank each man individually for their service.”
