A SCHOOL in Potters Bar is set to be safer for pupils to enter on foot, as plans for a new entrance and car park have been revealed.
The scheme at Oakmere Primary School, which comprises a 23-space car park and new access point through Featherstone Close, has been submitted to Hertsmere Borough Council.
As well as addressing safety concerns, the school says the work is necessary due to increasing numbers of visitors to the Chace Avenue site.
Headteacher Julie Lilly told the Potters Bar Edition: “It is mainly for staff and increased visitors that we now get because of the children’s centre and St John’s playgroup.
“There is also now a separate vehicle and pedestrian entrance, because at the moment they come through the same entrance which isn’t safe.”
