Police are appealing for witnesses after an intoxicated man inappropriately touched two women in Welwyn Garden City in broad daylight.

Police were called just before 3pm yesterday to reports that an intoxicated man was on the footbridge near Howardsgate, which runs over Welwyn Garden City train station.

He was reported to be harassing passers-by and a witness reported that he touched two passing women inappropriately.

No arrests have been made.

PC Ross Freeman, who is investigating, said: “We have examined CCTV footage which confirms that two women were touched inappropriately and I am appealing for them to come forward as they will have information that can help our investigation.

“I would also like to hear from anyone else who was approached by the man on the footbridge and has not yet spoken to police.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Freeman via the Hertfordshire Constabulary non-emergency number 101, quoting ISR 404 of October 3 or report information online at www.contacthertspolice.uk/Report.
