Police say a drunk cyclist is lucky to be “relatively unscathed” after cutting into the path of a vehicle while not having his hands on his handlebars in Hatfield.

Beds, Cambs and Herts Road Policing Unit usually tweet about vehicles they have stopped without insurance or road closures due to crashes, but yesterday they came across a cyclist who was putting himself and others at risk.

BCH Road Policing Unit tweeted: “The rider of this bike was lucky to escape relatively unscathed after cutting into the path of a vehicle whilst drunk and with no hands on the handlebars.

“Rider reported for cycling whilst unfit through drink, and cycling without reasonable consideration for others.”
