Drivers ‘at risk’ after flouting Brookmans Park road closure

Drivers are flouting a Brookmans Park road closure “putting themselves and their vehicles at risk”.
Herts police say motorists are ignoring police tape and removing cones to drive through Shepherds Way.
The road was closed on February 15 after heavy rain caused the road to subside and crack.
PC Ross Freeman, from the Welwyn Hatfield South Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “Due to the roadway being unstable and its close proximity to a water filled ditch, the decision was made that it is unsafe to allow vehicles to pass over this stretch of road as it would put people at risk of harm.
“Hertfordshire Highways have been fully informed of the situation and will be dealing with the matter in due course.
“However, people are removing the cones and the police tape, and driving through, putting themselves and their vehicles at risk, as well as causing further damage to the road surface.
“We appreciate that this is an inconvenience to people who regularly use this stretch of road, but it has been closed for your own safety.
“I would to appeal for people using the roads in this area to be patient and take another route.”
