A lorry and a van collided on a motorway this morning (Friday) leaving a driver trapped.

The two vehicles crashed on the Hatfield South Junction of the A1(M) at around 4am.

Fire crews from Potters Bar, Borehamwood, St Albans and Welwyn Garden City freed the man.

A slip road was closed after the crash and police had to recover the van.

The road re-opened at 5.53am.
