A FAMILY were marooned as torrential rain threatened to flood their home.

Stranded residents in Welham Green required fire crews to pump out fast rising water that was engulfing their house.

The front garden of the home in Puttocks Drive came under threat following persistent downpours over the weekend and full drains in the front garden.

Fire crews were called to the flood just before 9pm yesterday (Monday).

Watch commander David Hunt said: "The people were stuck in the house and were on their own little island.

"We had to act quick because it was just about to breach the house and would have damaged the contents and more seriously the electrics.
