A group of Welwyn Garden City guides are celebrating after receiving a donation that will help rebuild their ageing guide hut.

The Guessens District of the Guide Association, based in Welwyn Garden City, has received a £300 donation from the Galaxy Hot Chocolate Fund.

The local Girlguiding District has more than 300 members aged from five to 14. Thanks to the dedication and support given by a team of 30 volunteers, the girls all come together to have fun and make friends.

Jean Dossett, group trustee and chairman of the Hut Rebuild Committee, said: “This donation from the Galaxy Hot Chocolate Fund will go towards our campaign to rebuild our ageing Guide Hut.

“The Guessens Guide Hut has been well used for 86 years by both Girl Guides and the local community but, the time has come to replace it with a new building to enhance the opportunities and experiences for everybody who uses the facility.”
