PEOPLE buying alcohol for minors could face a fine or a criminal record, police have warned.
In a bid to stop proxy sales of alcohol to under-18s, the WGC safer neighbourhood team is reminding adults that buying booze for people below the legal age is a criminal offence, and could lead to an 80 fine or a court appearance.
Sgt Steph Morris said: "The consumption of alcohol by under-18s can lead to anti-social behaviour which can have a negative impact on the community.
"Hertfordshire Constabulary will be conducting overt and covert operations by premises selling alcohol to prevent and detect proxy sales.
