Van driver admits driving without due care and attention

A van driver has been fined after driving with due care and attention, resulting in injuries to a motorcyclist.
Dominic Dowbekin, 33, admitted driving without due care and attention when he case was heard at Stevenage Magistrates’ Court on March 1.
He was driving a Ford Transit in Dixons Hill Road at the junction with Swanland Road when a collision occurred on August 31 last year, involving a motorcyclist on a Honda CB500.
The court heard how the van started a right turn into Swanland Road across the path of the motorcyclist, which resulted in the motorcyclist colliding with the nearside of the van.
The rider suffered an open fracture to the right arm, lower back pain and cuts to the face.
The motorcycle’s front faring, wheel, handlebars and suspension was damaged.
There were also scrapes to the offside of the bike.
The van’s nearside door and front nearside wing were dented.
Dowbekin, of Kingsland Road, Hackney, was fined £253 and given six penalty points.
He was ordered to pay victim services £30 and costs of £85.
