Digswell singers raise hundreds for children’s charity

A group of Digswell carol singers raised hundreds of pounds for charity in just two hours.
Twenty of the Digswell Players raised £340 for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) by carol singing around Digswell Village.
Organised by Stuart Carnegie, the group set off from Digswell Church singing the most popular carols with some musical accompaniment.
Stuart said: “We are extremely grateful for the welcomes we got and the kind generosity of the people of Digswell.
“We even sang a few carols in the Cowper Arms and most of the pub joined in with the singing.

“After two hours of singing, our voices were beginning to give up so we went back to the church for much needed refreshments where we counted out the money which amazed us all by totalling £340.90.
“We will certainly be doing it again next year.”

The group was also carol singing to promote its pantomime ‘Robinson Crusoe and the Pirates’.
