Two crooks are being hunted by police after trying to steal a woman's handbag in Hatfield.
The attempted robbery happened between 12.50pm and 1pm on Monday, October 6.
The victim, a woman in her 20s, was walking along Gypsy Moth Avenue when she was approached by two men.
One of the men stood in front of her and asked for directions.
After a short conversation, the second man, who was standing behind her, tugged the bottom of the victim’s bag, which was on her shoulder, as if to snatch it.
A pedestrian disturbed the pair and they ran off towards the Campion Road estate empty-handed.
The first man was described as “white, aged between 17 and 24 years old, of slim build, around 5ft 10in tall, with piercing blue eyes which were bloodshot”.
He had a fair complexion and was wearing a dark tracksuit with the hood up.
The second man was described as “white, of slim build and was shorter than the first man. He wore dark clothing and a dark beanie hat”.
PC Gavin Richardson, who is investigating, said: “I am keen to trace the male pedestrian who inadvertently disturbed these two men.
“If you believe this was you, then please get in touch.
“I would also like to hear from anyone else who was in the area at the time and saw what happened, or who remembers seeing two men matching the descriptions above.”
• Anyone with information should call PC Richardson via the Hertfordshire Constabulary non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference B2/14/3503.
