A Welwyn Garden City football club has had a defibrillator installed as a Christmas present to the local community.
Panshanger Youth Football Club’s defibrillator has been installed outside the pavilion in Moneyhole Lane Park, WGC.
It was partially funded by local charity DiPPs (Defibrillators in Public Places), which was set up by Arline and David Hursey and Jude Temple to remember Arline and David’s son James, 18, who died in September 2015. The rest of the money was raised through the club’s fundraising race night, and Welwyn Hatfield Council fitted the unit.
Panshanger Youth FC vice chair Fiona Reed said: “It has always been a huge concern of mine that the club’s defibrillator was only accessible when the Pavilion was open on match days. I am so pleased this is now no longer the case, available if ever required 24/7 for the local community and for all those who visit Moneyhole park.”
