Circumstances surrounding the death of a man found in Welwyn Garden City are not being treated as suspicious, police have said.

"I would thank the public for their support in the investigation and extend my deepest sympathies to the man’s family at this difficult time."

Detective Inspector Tim Redfearn

Detectives form the Bedfordshire Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit (BCHMCU) have been investigating the man’s death.

They say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

The man, named locally as Jason Butler, was found yesterday morning around 6am on a patch of grass on Broadwater Road.

Detective Inspector Tim Redfearn, from the BCHMCU, said: “We have conducted a thorough investigation into the man’s death, which has included a post mortem, and can confirm that we have been able to rule out third party involvement and do not believe there were any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

“I would thank the public for their support in the investigation and extend my deepest sympathies to the man’s family at this difficult time.”

Two people who were arrested in connection with his death have been released from custody with no further action taken against them.

The death has now been referred to the Hertfordshire Coroner.
