David Bowie Welwyn Garden City performance information appeal

PUBLISHED: 11:43 03 February 2015 | UPDATED: 15:55 02 August 2017

An author is searching for music fans who saw David Bowie perform a set in Welwyn Garden City back in the 1960s.

Kevin Macan-Lind is researching a book about the legendary rocker’s activities in Herts, Beds and Cambs, and hopes to track down people who were in the crowd.

David Bowie and the Buzz performed at the Woodhall Community Centre on September 12, 1966.

At that time Bowie was 19 and was relatively unknown.

It was not until 1969 that Space Oddity became Bowie’s first hit.

Mr Macan-Lind, who lives in Broom, Bedfordshire, told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “If any readers have any recollections, or even photos, I will be very keen to hear from them.”

Anyone who can help with the project can contact the author by emailing kevin@bowiewonderworld.com
