Police are hunting the owners of a dog that bit a woman as she was walking through Stanborough Park yesterday.

The victim, a Welwyn Garden City woman in her 60s, was strolling past the north “boating” lake at about 8.30am when an Alsatian with a couple in their 50s lunged at her, and caused a wound needing medical treatment on her thigh.

Police Constable Glenn Cook said: “Thankfully the lady was not severely injured but I do need to trace the people who were with the dog that day. If you think this was you, please call me.

“I am also keen for two witnesses who saw what happened and helped the victim to make contact with me.”

Anyone with information should contact PC Cook via the Herts Police non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference number B1/14/3164.

Alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
