Young dancers took over Welwyn Garden City’s Howard Centre to highlight how performing arts promote positive mental health and wellbeing.

Youngsters at performing arts school Wexli Academy, aged five to 18, took part in the performance.

They danced to Trip A Little Light Fantastic from the hit film Mary Poppins Returns.

Wexli director Jo Li said: “We are so proud of all the kids.

“They did an incredible job, especially as it was the first time all three age groups had performed the routine together.

“There was an amazing buzz in the Howard Centre with a massive turnout, plus cheering and applauding.”

Fellow Wexli director Daniella Wexler said: “Performing arts is a hugely powerful tool to address emotional issues in children and young people and encourages expression, boosts self-esteem and helps to relieve stress.”

Daniella and Joanne are two primary school teachers who founded the academy.
