A man has been fined for possession of crack cocaine and heroin in Hatfield.

Damian Martin, who is currently residing at HMP Peterborough, appeared in St Albans Magistrates’ Court on April 6.

He admitted two counts of possession of a Class A drug in Hatfield on August 24.

Martin, 43, was found with 16 wraps of crack cocaine.

He also had five wraps of heroin.

The defendant was fined a total of £240.

He was ordered to pay victim services £30.

There was no order for costs because he is a serving prisoner.

Last week, the Welwyn Hatfield Times reported how police were determined to drive out drugs from Hatfield.

Detective Inspector Rob Burns, who leads the Local Crime Unit, said: “We are determined to put a stop to the possession, supply and use of drugs in Hatfield, some of which is being fuelled by offenders coming into Hatfield from London.”
