Cuffley teenage singer competes on West End stage

A 14-year-old singing star from Cuffley will perform on a West End stage next month in the final of a national competition.

Jaynie Alcock has made it through two rounds to reach the final of the West End Calling contest, which will be at The Ambassadors Theatre on Tuesday, April 11.

She said: “When I step on stage all my worries fade away and I just love it.

“I would feel more confident auditioning for drama school now, I have made quite a few friends from my time in the competition, and the judges have given me some solid advice.

“Dreams can come true, can’t they?

“Winning the competition would mean a lot, It would be amazing.”

She will be one of just 13 finalists, having impressed judges in the semi-final on March 25 with her rendition of ͛One Perfect Moment from the musical Bring It On.

According to one judge: “Jaynie has a glorious voice. It is so expressive and demonstrates great control through her vocal ability and range.

I absolutely loved her performance. She has great focus and has a contemporary sound to her voice.

“For me, the performance was amazing because it was honest and true.”

Another said: “A truly beautiful voice.”

The professional judging panel included stars who have performed in such successful musicals as Cool Rider, The Book of Mormon, Loserville, In the Heights and Collabro.
