On Friday, December 1, the village celebrated its annual lighting ceremony with residents and children entertained in the Millennium Gardens by the Cuffley School Choir, who sung traditional carols before mince pies were distributed.

Clerk of Northaw and Cuffley Council Jason Grocock said the event was very well attended, and added: “The choir received much applause for their excellent selection of Christmas songs.

“I was also pleased to welcome our guest of honour, local resident and former Fleet Street journalist, Derek Parr.”

Before leading the countdown to switch on the lights Mr Parr described some of the changes which had taken place in Cuffley since he lived in Station Road and attended the Cuffley School.
