RESIDENTS evacuated over a bomb scare in Cuffley have been allowed to return to their homes.

The MOD has taken away the device, which was found this morning (Tuesday) and it was not thought to be live.

A police spokeswoman said: “We received a call this morning from a resident who believed he had found a bomb in the garden of his property.

“As a precaution we evacuated residents from a block of flats in Lambs Close, which the garden backed on to, and they were taken to Cuffley Hall.

“The bomb disposal unit from the Ministry of Defence arrived and after an x-ray discovered that the shell was not live and safely took it away.

“All residents are now back in their homes.”
