THE stage version of the best-selling film and novel, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, is to be performed at a theatre in WGC.

From tomorrow (Friday) until next Saturday (February 28) the show, by Dale Wasserman, will be on at the Barn Theatre in Handside Lane.

The plot features the story of the charming rogue, Mr McMurphy, who contrives to serve a short sentence in an airy mental hospital rather than in a prison.

He clashes with the head nurse and leads inmates into revolution and out of introversion, brightening up an otherwise grey world.

The show is said to be a contemporary tragedy - "at times hilarious, at others heroic, but consistently liberating".

Director Simon Wallace said: "Cuckoo's Nest is both one of my top 10 novels and top 10 favourite films and so I leapt at the opportunity to direct the stage play at the Barn Theatre.

"I have been blessed with a superb cast who are making these fabulous characters come alive.

"Added to that, my design team is busy working on transforming the Barn stage into a realistic psychiatric ward."

Mr Wallace added: "This show promises to be thrilling and memorable."

It starts at 8pm. Tickets are £9 and are available from Campus West on 01707 357117.
