The people of Welwyn Garden City have a chance to learn about Croatia while helping fund a charitable trip to eastern Europe for some of their young neighbours this weekend.

A group of young people in Welwyn Garden City has have organised a Croatian evening, complete with a meal, a presentation, and a quiz, at the Focolare Centre for Unity in Parkway on Saturday evening.

The evening will help fund their proposed trip to Serbia and Romania in July, when they plan to help refurbish a school and work in a nursery.

The trip is part of International Workshop Hombremundo, an international project organised by the Focolare Movement to bring young people from different cultures together.

Former borough councillor Michal Siewniak, who has helped organise the event, said: “It should be a lovely evening. Most people don’t know where Croatia is, or anything about it, so here is their chance to find out.

“Please come along and support this event. It will be a great evening with good food and a lovely atmosphere.”

The event will start at 7pm, with a suggested donation of £10.
