What would you like to see police focusing on in the Welwyn Hatfield area?

That's the question being asked by the local Safer Neighbourhood Team as they prepare to set new priorities for policing in the area.

The objective of the SNT is to tackle short and long-term neighbourhood issues such as anti-social behaviour, working closely with local partners like the council and schools.

Every three months, the team sets out three priorities across each of the borough's wards.

The current priorities for Welwyn Hatfield North include anti-social behaviour in WGC town centre and at Woodhall shops, and speeding in the Digswell Hill area, including Digswell Road, Hertford Road and Station Road.

For Welwyn Hatfield West the focus is on anti-social behaviour in Hatfield town centre and the Comet Way/Galleria area, drugs in Lemsford Road and speeding in Salisbury Village.

Meanwhile anti-social behaviour in Dellsome Lane and Goldings House, off-road bikes in Dellsome Lane, and speeding in Bluebridge Road are the current priorities for Welwyn Hatfield South.

The SNT's Insp Andrew Palfreyman said: “The public’s views play a major role in shaping our policing priorities and so we’re keen for you to get in touch and let us know your thoughts.

“Lots of progress has been made with the current priorities and some of them which require more long-term work are likely to stay in place until we’re satisfied that they have been thoroughly resolved.

“If there is something that you would like us to focus on, please let us know using echo, our community voice platform. The deadline for submissions is Friday March 18 and the priorities will be announced shortly after.

“Please be reassured that if your submission does not make it into our priorities, it will still be taken on board and used to help us form our patrol plans and where we should be targeting our activity.”
