A CRIME prevention website has been shortlisted for an award – and its owner is calling on the public to help it take home a prize.
Online Watch Link (OWL) is in the running for the Nominet Internet Awards in the Digital Innovation in Public Services category.
Gary Fenton, who moved to Welwyn 10 years ago, created the site which enables the police to alert members of the site when a crime happens in their area.
Mr Fenton said: “One in every six homes across Welwyn Hatfield have signed up to OWL so they can be kept informed of incidents, issues and events in their local area.”
The awards aim to showcase projects which make the internet more secure and accessible.
A panel of judges are due to select the winners, which will be announced on July 4 at The British Library, hosted by technology journalist Kate Russell.
n To vote visit www.owl.co.uk/misc and select Digital innovation in public services as the category and Online Watch Link as the entry to support.
