Crash closes both lanes of the A414

Both lanes of the A414 were closed this morning (Friday) after an accident.

Details of the collision are unclear at present, but police said it appeared “standing water” may have had some bearing on what happened.

The accident, involving a white van, took place at 5.50am.

At 6.02am the westbound road was shut and 10 minutes later the eastbound side was closed.

The eastbound lane was partially opened at 6.46am, and the westbound lane reamend shut until 8.23am.

Both the fire service and the ambulance service were called to the scene.

The driver was taken to Lister Hospital, in Stevange, police said he suffered “non-life threatening” injuries.
