Crash closes A1(M)

THE A1(M) has closed Northbound between Welwyn and Stevenage after two cars collided.

Police were called to the scene just before 10.30am after the crash just after Junction 6.

The road is closed but work is ongoing between Junction 6, A1000 Welwyn, and Junction 7, A602 Stevenage.

A man and two women were involved in the collision with one being given first aid at the scene according to a police spokeswoman.

A spokesman from the East of England Ambulance Service said: “Two women have been taken to Lister Hospital, in Stevenage, with minor injuries.”

Fire crews and an ambulance were also called.
