A crane collided with a bridge in South Mimms and caused the stretch to temporarily close.

Highways England and Herts Police were called yesterday at 8.17pm to reports of the crash by the flyover on the A1(M) northbound at Junction 1.

A police spokesman said: “The road was closed whilst Highways examined the damage to the bridge, [before] the road was reopened at around 3am. The driver of the lorry was not injured.”

There were no delays on the stretch this morning.
