Councillors have pledged £560,000 to fix roads in Welwyn Hatfield as requested by residents.
For a fourth year running, county councillors have each been provided with a highways locality budget intended for highway projects.
Welwyn Hatfield’s county councillors have allocated a total of £560,000 for 2016/17, to support schemes in the borough requested by residents, including road resurfacing, sign improvements, speed surveys and the provision of solar powered speed indicator devices.
As part of this year’s highways locality budget scheme, consultation has begun in the Hazel Grove area of Hatfield, and Dellsome Lane area of Welham Green on the introduction of 20mph zones.
Terry Douris, cabinet member for Highways, said: “Residents who use local routes on a daily basis have a good knowledge of what problems need fixing and the highways locality budget scheme is allowing people in Hertfordshire to influence important decisions on highway works in their area.”
