A new comic shop opened in Hatfield town centre yesterday.

Calamity Comics, which sells comics, merchandise and American sweets, opened at 44 White Lion Square Hatfield yesterday.

Councillor Bernard Sarson, executive member for business, partnerships and public health at Welwyn Hatfield Council, said:

“It is brilliant to see retailers, small and large, identifying Hatfield as a great place to do business.

“Residents and shoppers, as they walk through White Lion Square and around Hatfield, are seeing the benefits of ongoing investment in the town centre.

“We are committed to doing even more for Hatfield and making sure that attracting the likes of Calamity Comics continues the influx of new businesses that will bring lots of joy to shoppers.

“I wish Calamity Comics Hatfield every success in their new venture and hope to see it thriving long into the future.”

Shop manager Eric Van Genderen opened the Hatfield branch after 30 years running Calamity Comics’ other branch in Harrow.
