A KEY figure in Potters Bar politics is set to step down from her seat on Hertsmere Borough Council after almost a decade.

Fellow councillors paid tribute to Furzefield councillor Rebecca Foy who played a big part in the Potters Bar in Focus group after her election in 1999.

At a meeting of the full council last Wednesday in Borehamwood her elected colleagues announced how her "extremely hard work" and "passion" would be missed.

Oakmere councillor Shirley Legate said: "Rebecca has been a staunch supporter of Potters Bar in Focus and has done brilliantly while being the mother of four which is hard to juggle."

Councillor Seamus Quilty who praised her dedication, said: "She was here the whole time and it will be sad to not see her here."

Her seat will be contested during elections on May 1.
