FIVE years after Welwyn Hatfield Council handed over control of its leisure facilities contracts still have not been signed.

Finesse Leisure has run Stanborough Lakes, Hatfield Leisure Centre, Panshanger Golf Complex and Hatfield Swim Centre since 2004, but it has only just come to light that leases have not been rubber stamped.

Councillor Tony Skottowe raised the issue at last Monday's council meeting, but leader John Dean brushed off his question by stating the council and Finesse have a close relationship.

A council spokeswoman said no lease had been signed at the time of the deal, however it was hoped a formal contract would be agreed and signed early this year.
