The county council has made a new video for parents with babies to highlight the importance of early brain development.

The council’s ‘My Baby’s Brain’ initiative is designed to help parents of very young children understand the importance of everyday parent-child interactions in the home, and the impact they have on a baby’s brain development.

The video links to a report published last week by charity Save the Children, which connected home learning to development in young children.

Jenny Coles, the council’s director of children’s services, said: “The way a parent behaves around a baby in the first three years of their life has a significant impact on how their baby’s brain develops.”
