Staff at Costcutter in Codicote are celebrating after being named one of the UK and Ireland’s top 100 independent retailers.

The accolade was awarded by the Independent Achievers Academy following an in-store assessment from mystery shoppers. It recognises excellence in customer service and store standards, and looks for the convenience stores which do the most to service their community.

Earlier this year, the store on High Street underwent a major refit, introducing an expanded range of convenience items including fresh fruit and vegetables, hot food to go and an in-store bakery.

Store owner Josie Chamberlin said: “We continually strive to deliver our shoppers the highest standards, so are absolutely delighted to have received this amazing accolade.

“It really is testament to the hard work and commitment of the whole team and our customers.

“Since the refit, customer feedback has been excellent.

“We really listened to the local community and what it needed which helped us make important decisions on how we adapt our offerings, so we’d like to thank them for helping us win this accolade and we’ll continue to provide a great shopping experience.”
