Manufacturer: Nintendo

WHILE there should not be any stock shortages this year, Nintendo's Wii is still the number one selling console and deservedly so. It comes with a unique motion-sensitive controller that looks like a TV remote and can register movement in every direction. Tennis games require you to swing the console like a racket while golf games will have you teeing up your shots. It sounds like a gimmick, but it is not - it really adds to the gaming experience and means anyone can pick it up and have a go, whether they are a games expert or a complete novice. It comes bundled with Wii Sports, an amusing collection of sports games, but at £179.99 it is an expensive option. Its online offering is extremely disappointing compared to the other consoles, too, while its graphics are second rate at best. It is still the only place you can play a Mario game though and the add-on Wii Fit board can provide a living room workout.
