A Conservative councillor has resigned from Welwyn Hatfield Council.

Welwyn Hatfield Conservatives are sad to confirm that for health reasons Malcolm Spinks has decided to resign from his position as the councillor for Haldens Ward.

Mr Spinks said: “I have really enjoyed my time as a councillor, unfortunately due to recent medical developments and following from conversations with my doctor it has become clear that I will not be able to give the role the time and dedication it deserves.

“I would like to thank the people of Haldens ward for their trust in me and hope that they understand that this was a very difficult decision I have been forced to make.”

Group leader of the Conservative Group and leader of the council, councillor John Dean said: “Since his election, Malcolm has served the community of Haldens and the wider borough extremely effectively and obviously this is extremely sad news.

“I am sure that everyone will join with me in wishing him a full recovery.”
