Welwyn Garden City-based charity Isabel Hospice and a Hatfield care home received nearly 150 Easter eggs from XPO Logistics.

Staff at the company, which works in partnership with Iceland, made their regular visit to the hospice to donate Easter eggs for the charity’s patients, family members and staff.

The eggs were enough for all hospice patients, staff and volunteers to have one each.

Kirsty Hill, team leader at the hospice’s In-Patient Unit, said: “We can’t thank Charlie and his team enough.

“It really brightened our day and was very generous of them.”

XPO Logistics staff also donated over 136 eggs to residents at Hatfield Residential Nursing Care Home in Tamblin Way, where Isabel Hospice is operating while its WGC base is renovated.

Care home manager Mary Tolladay said: “We were just overwhelmed with the kindness from XPO Logistics.

“Our residents were smiling from ear to ear as they thought it was such a lovely gesture and they can’t wait to tuck in on Easter Sunday.”

Care home resident Jean Taylor, 87, said: “Whoever’s idea it was, I think it’s a wonderful idea – a very kind thought indeed.”

Fellow resident Sylvia Phillipa, 85, added: “Oh how exciting, I love Easter and especially all of the chocolate.”
