Bearded collie couple Callie and Lancelot are entering this year’s Crufts.

Lisa Bartlett, 42, of Hatfield, is entering her bearded collies Callie and Lancelot into Crufts.

Callie, who recently celebrated her fourth birthday, has taken part in Crufts for the past three years, using the show name ‘Champion’.

In her first year, she came first in the ‘special puppy’ category and last year she won second and third prizes with Lisa’s son Connor, 14, for junior handling.

Lisa said: “We’ve been practising running around, trotting and standing still. She’s very well-behaved, we used to call her ‘Little Miss Perfect’.”

This year, Lisa and Connor are also entering 18-month-old Lancelot. Both Callie and Lancelot have been training for Crufts since they were six months old. They also have a puppy together, King, who is five months old, and will be able to follow in his parents’ footsteps at Crufts next year.

Lisa, who used to work in Lemsford Kennels, said: “I have been showing dogs all my life. My mum and dad used to breed Newfoundlands.

“The competition is a lot more intense than you might think.”

Crufts is from Thursday, March 10 to Sunday, March 13, and is taking place at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham.
