A group of volunteers who are on a mission to clean up Hatfield are encouraging residents to join them in October.

Clean Up Hatfield CampaignClean Up Hatfield Campaign

Clean Up Hatfield, a group of Hatfield volunteers, are trying to make the town look its best by organising mass litter-picks each spring and autumn.

The next litter-pick focus week is Monday, October 1, to Sunday, October 7.

Organisers Marian Hurle and Cathy Roe are hoping that in the first week of October everyone in Hatfield will have a clear-up of any litter that is spoiling the look of the public space surrounding their home, school, university, shop, church or workplace.

They are also asking for volunteers to lead or to join community litter-picks.

The organisers said: “Let’s make Hatfield look its best this autumn.

“Let’s make Hatfield a town we can be proud of.”

Equipment including pickers, gloves and hi-vis jackets will be provided, and Welwyn Hatfield Council will take away the bags of collected rubbish.

The litter-picking teams will collect recyclables separate from non-recyclable rubbish.
