YOUTHS riding illegal off-road motorcycles have been stopped and given warnings in and around Potters Bar.

A joint operation between Hertsmere Borough Council and Hertfordshire Constabulary has seen a number of young people stopped on banned all-terrain bikes and given formal warnings for riding them in fields and open spaces in Hertsmere.

On Saturday last week, a team of environmental health officers and police officers saw nine riders on a variety of vehicles from small mini-motors to full size trail bikes.

All but one of the riders were caught and given warning notices. If they are caught again they will face prosecution and have their bikes crushed.

The operation took place around South Mimms.
