Police are investigating after a group of teenagers damaged a family's Christmas decorations in Welwyn Garden City.

A police spokesman said: “Between 12.55am and 1.34am on Sunday, December 17, four illuminated reindeer Christmas decorations were damaged in the front garden of a property in Meadway, Welwyn Garden City.

“The offenders are described as a group of about 5 to 10 teenagers, the majority of them female.

“They were seen to head off in the direction of King George V playing fields.”

Resident Alex Carter told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “Me and my family are just frustrated that we’ve spent the time to put up these Christmas decorations just to have drunk kids damage them in the middle of the night with no repercussions

“We’ve been able to repair these reindeer Christmas decorations, though one of the heads has been permanently damaged and all of the motorised joints in the necks are no longer working from the damaged caused.”

•Police are investigating and anyone with any information should contact Hertfordshire Constabulary on the non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference B1/17/5105.
